Who Is Collecting Your Information

When you provide corporate or personal information on this website, that information goes only to In-house Counsel InfoNet, an Arizona company, except as otherwise indicated herein. If the intention is to share information collected with any other party, you will be notified of such intention at the time the data is requested and transferred so that you can decide whether or not you are willing to have the information shared in that manner.

When Information Is Collected

To use the discussion boards and/or access the document libraries on this website, you must either register as an In-house Counsel User or be invited to participate in the In-house Counsel InfoNet service as an Expert Panelist or be employed by an InfoNet Service Provider or InfoNet Sponsor.  In registering or being authorized to use this website, you and your company or firm are voluntarily providing certain information to Owner including, but not limited to, company or firm name, physical mailing address, telephone and facsimile numbers, area of business operations, as well as authorized representative name, title and contact information.   Access to the website also requires use of unique usernames and passwords.  This basic information comprises your User Profile.  You can always view, update and/or correct the information in your User Profile; and you have the option of providing additional profile information to that listed above.

Aside from your User Profile, Owner collects information about site users in connection with certain activities on the site, including when you access the website, submit information, participate in online discussion forums and utilize other services on the website. This information may be collected through the use of cookies when you log onto the website.  "Cookies" are small pieces of information that are transferred by our servers and stored by your web browser on your computer's hard drive. Also, when website visitors request pages from our web server, the server automatically collects some information about the users, including their IP addresses. Computers on the network use these addresses to send the requested information to you.

Use of Information and With Whom It Is Shared

It is Owner’s general policy not to reveal User Profile or other information collected about website users to third parties without specific permission to do so and to use reasonable precautions to keep this information secure; except as indicated herein.

Owner uses IP addresses of website users to administer this website, respond to inquiries or comments and diagnose problems with our servers, as well as to gather broad demographic information about users. The general demographic information does not contain anything that identifies users personally or that can be used to identify them. We may combine demographic information about authorized users with site usage data to develop profiles, in aggregate form, about users of this website and their preferences regarding the content of the site and the services we offer.  Owner may share this composite information with existing or prospective InfoNet Service Providers or InfoNet Sponsors to help them better understand our user profiles and the dynamics of our website. However, specific information about individual website users is not distributed to such parties, except as herein specified.

Owner periodically sends out email messages, e-newsletters or e-bulletins using the contact information of registered website users for this purpose.  Newsletters and bulletins contain instructions on how to notify us if you prefer not to receive these electronic communications.  Upon request, Owner will also remove your User Profile information from the website database.

This website also uses cookies to deliver content specific to registered users’ interests and to honor their preferences. The information gathered about use of the website is used to guide us in creating a site that serves the needs and interests of registered website users.

Of course, Owner will share User Profile information about you, your company or firm with other parties when you request to be contacted or indicate your desire to use services or products available from Owner or others through this website. In such event, only so much information will be provided as may be necessary to make an appropriate record of your request, respond to it and keep you informed about the status of your request.

Also, if you elect to participate as an Expert Panelist in the In-house Counsel InfoNet service, your name and contact information are posted for viewing by registered users as well as anonymous visitors to this website.  Questions posted to the Q&A discussion boards in the expert panelist areas of this website are set not to reveal the name or contact information of the registered in-house counsel user posting the message.  However, these discussion boards are restricted to use only by registered users; and, accordingly, Owner has the means to protect registered website users, Expert Panelists and the public from abusive postings and verifiable points of contact should legal questions arise.

Please remember, if you or another company or firm representative volunteers proprietary, confidential or other business or personal information about you or your company or firm in posting messages in an online discussion board, that information is available to all other persons authorized to view those areas of this website (including anonymous site visitors) and may be used by someone in ways unintended by you, your company or firm. The disclosure of information in such manner and the consequences thereof are your and your company’s or firm’s sole responsibility and not that of Owner.

Also, please note that Owner may disclose User Profile information if required to do so by law, court order, as requested by other government or law enforcement authority, or in the good faith belief that disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable including, without limitation, to protect the rights or properties of Owner; or when Owner has reason to believe that disclosing the information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing interference with the rights or properties of Owner, whether intentionally or otherwise; or when anyone else could be harmed by such activities.

Other than as above indicated, as an in-house counsel registered user of this website, you control the amount of User Profile information you reveal to other participants.  You have the option to reveal your name and contact information in posts that you enter in the discussion boards on this site.  You also have the option to contact directly Expert Panelists and representatives of InfoNet Service Providers and InfoNet Sponsors and disclose your name and contact information making such contact.  Expert Panelists, and representatives of InfoNet Service Providers and InfoNet Sponsors are expected to respect your desire to protect your contact information and use discretion in communicating with you; however, Owner is not responsible for the disclosure or inappropriate use of your contact information by any party if you initiate the disclosure.

The importance of security regarding information provided by registered users of this website to Owner is of utmost concern to us.  Owner exercises great care in providing secure transmission of your information from your company or firm computer to our servers. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Owner cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. Once we receive your transmission, Owner will undertake best efforts to ensure the security of your and your company or firm information on our systems. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, our servers utilize sophisticated physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information that you and your company or firm may provide to us online.

We consider your username, password and other User Profile data that you provide to us highly sensitive information.  Although Owner takes precautions to prevent unauthorized use of such information, you and your company or firm must also be careful to safeguard this information.  You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your password and any account information.  Owner personnel will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. To ensure that others cannot access your User Profile, post messages or request services in your company or firm name, please remember to exit the In-house Counsel InfoNet website and close your browser window at the end of each visit.
